I'm heading there for the first time tonight... and, as someone who is not a frequent concert-goer, I wouldn't have have had any inkling that there was an "unspoken bag policy" ;)Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1084416318664786348.post-22351866416796772882012-05-19T14:16:46.403-07:002012-05-19T14:16:46.403-07:00Ok, yeah, I didn't know that. I wasn't try...Ok, yeah, I didn't know that. I wasn't trying to bring in food or beverages, either. I just had a bag with a bunch of books, coming from school. My main point is that there is *no backup plan*. If you show up, unaware of the policy, you're screwed. Look, the Carnegie Museum of Art also doesn't allow bags, but they have a small room of lockers that cost ¢50 or $1 to use. Put that at the venue, you'll actually MAKE MONEY.
I also don't like how they assume you drove there, while also operating a bar. No buses go on their street, and most ways to get there involve getting off at a downtown stop and walking several blocks across a bridge. Plus, there are absolutely NO bike racks on the ENTIRE BLOCK surrounding this place. What's up with that?
So, look, I have since gone back to this place many times and have never had any problems. People there seem to be quite friendly. In fact, I even went there last night with a friend who brought a bag pretty much exactly the same as mine (same size and style, different brand) and the security guard just looked through it and let him in. So riddle me that.
Ultimately, this is not a story about Stage AE and their evil policies. This is a story about a security guard who was a complete asshole to me and was completely up front about it, to my face. I hope you can understand that I had a terrible experience and that I wanted to complain about.
But hey, thanks for stopping by and being an anonymous dick.Brendan W. It's common sense. What do you want the employees to do, be personal babysitters for every stupid person that brings something you shouldn't. You need to stop bitching. If you don't like it then you should have left.
